Initially employed as part a major redesign of one of the market leading property websites that contains property details from two thirds of UK estate agents. The brief was to take the existing design that was several years old, from a tables based structure to a css / JavaScript standards compliant site that was backward and future compatible.
Involved a full investigation into existing site usability using public testing sessions, competition analysis, and internal workgroup focused on specific areas such as usability, accessibility, UI design, Backend integration (this was primarily a front end project), SEO, and marketing.
After an ongoing process of wire framing and investigation into specific component areas such as mapping (Microsoft), JavaScript libraries and Navigation testing, public beta testing was done in late 2007.
The final build was released in February 2008 based on dynamically generated CSS with an Adobe Coldfusion Fuse box backend and using Spry JavaScript libraries.
The redesign was received very well and let to the company investing heavily in the online property market by taking over a competitor and moving to No 1 in the market.
Ongoing my role involved progressive enhancements in conjunction with Coldfusion and .Net developers, daily QA testing for cross browser compatibility, Accessibility testing to WCAG 2 standards, tag testing and releases using Subversion, feature property and advertising creative’s.
